MGEN MANUEL V SEQUITIN PA is the 41st Commander of Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines.

He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Makatao” Class of 1989.

MAJOR GENERAL MANUEL V SEQUITIN PA was born in Manila on the 19th of August 1966. His primary years of education were spent at the Paltok Elementary School in Quezon City, and his secondary years were spent at Quezon City High School. His Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering was taken up to the 2nd year at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila. In 1985, he entered the Philippine Military Academy, and on the 19th of February 1989, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant.

 

He served in the 15th Infantry (Molave Warrior) Battalion, 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division as platoon leader, company commander, and battalion operations officer during his junior officer years. Later, he was assigned to the psychological operations group, forerunner of the present Civil Military Operations Regiment, after his tour in the field, where he specialized as an army CMO officer.

 

Later in his career, he assumed command of the 66th Infantry (Kabalikat) Battalion, 10th Infantry (Agila) Division where he was credited with the transformation of the municipality of New Bataan in Compostela Valley Province from a former NPA guerilla base to a peaceful and conflict-resilient town.  Thereafter, he became G7, 10ID and subsequently transferred as Executive Officer of G7 at Headquarters Philippine Army.  Some time later, he assumed as chief and general manager of the AFP Educational Benefit System Office in Camp Aguinaldo with the task of providing educational grants for children of soldiers who were killed in action. Eventually, he became the Chief of Staff and subsequently the Deputy Commander of the Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines. Further, he assumed his post as Chief of Staff of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division in Davao region for a period of three years.

 

He underwent various schoolings here and abroad. He finished his Civil Affairs Course and Psychological Operations Officer Course at the United States John F Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (JFKSWCS) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, USA in 2002 where he earned the allied Distinguished Honor Graduate Award. He also attended a seminar on Security Assistance Management at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, USA in 2001. He is likewise a graduate of Masters in Business Administration at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business; the AFP Command and General Staff Course and the Master in National Security Administration at the National Defense College of the Philippines where he was given the opportunity to take exams that qualified him to be a certified career executive service eligible.

 

His many commendations, citations, and awards are even more proof of his excellence and dedication in serving the Philippine Armed Forces. Four distinguished service stars, one distinguished service medal, a bronze cross medal, silver wing medal and honor graduate award, are among his highest awards.

 

He earned his first star when he was promoted to brigadier general as he commanded the 701st Infantry (Kagitingan) Brigade, 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division. In command of said brigade, he was credited with the dismantling of two Guerilla Fronts and two Pulang Bagani Commands, thus clearing his area of operations in the provinces of Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley of NPA influence and helping pave the way for peace and development in partnership with the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communism Armed Conflict. After commanding 701st Brigade, General Sequitin was designated as Assistant Division Commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division in Nueva Ecija and later as ADC of the 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division in Jolo, Sulu.

 

Currently, he commands the Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines.
