Navy participates in Peace Dialogue with Fisherfolks at Cordova, Cebu

Headquarters, Naval Forces Central, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, May 14, 2021 – Naval Forces Central through Civil Military Operations Unit-Central participated in the dialogue with the fisherfolks (SAMBAYANAN members) spearheaded by 3rd Civil Relations Group under Central Command, AFP on May 11, 2021 at the Multi Purpose Hall of Barangay Bangbang, Bangbang Elementary School, in the Municipality of Cordova, Cebu Province.


The activity aims to engage a dialogue with fisherfolks to address the various issues and concerns of the sectoral organization and bringing the government programs and services closer to the people. Almost 100 fisherfolks were affected by the construction of the Cordova-Cebu City Bridge which is expected to be operational and open to traffic by end of this year.The dialogue was made possible in coordination with the Task Group Cebu-Bohol-Siquijor, the Region 7 regional offices of national agencies such as: National Intelligence Coordinating Council; Depart of Labor and Employment; Technical Education and Skills Development; Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources; Department of Education through the Bangbang Elementary School, and the Local Governement Unit of Cordova, Cebu, particularly the Barangay Officials of Barangay Bangbang, Cordova, Cebu.


The community expressed their gratitude for the conduct of the dialogue which further strengthened their resolve that communication and unity are keys to peace and progress in their community. After the dialogue, the Command together with the 3rd Civil Relations Group, and representatives from other government agencies provided food stuff and essential grocery items for the attendees in the spirit of bayanihan or the “Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko” program.


The activity was conducted in adherence to IATF protocols on safety and health against the COVID-19 pandemic.
