NPA rebel surrenders in Abra

October 30, 2017

An active member of New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the military in Abra on Thursday.

Lt. Col. Isagani G. Nato, the chief of the Public Information Office of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Northern Luzon Command (AFP-NoLCom), identified the rebel surrenderee as Eugene Agdap, also known as Kapitan Rense  Berting, 33, single and a resident of Abra.

Nato said Agdap turned himself in to troops of the Army’s 24th Infantry Battalion, 7th Infantry Division in Sitio Barbarit, Brgy. Tagodtod, Lagangilang, Abra.

The  rebel was the Squad Leader of the Kilusang Larangan Gerilya (KLG) MONTES under the Ilocos Cordillera Regional Committee (ICRC) with the Codename of Chadi Molintas Command of ICRC.

“His surrender was a result of the government’s appeal to the misguided members of the local terrorist group (NPA) to come down and return to the folds of the law and live a normal and productive life with their families, rather than live a life of violence,” Nato said.

“These positive developments on the ground manifest the sincerity and commitment of NOLCOM forces together with the strong support of the local communities  to attain peace and development soonest,” he added.
