14 NPA members surrender, yield 16 Firearms to 26IB

Talacogon, Agusan del Sur – Fourteen (14) NPA members have yielded their firearms and surrendered to the Army’s 26th Infantry Battalion in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur, today (December 04).

The said members of the New People’s Army (NPA) brought along with them 16 firearms of different calibers.

The NPAs in the area of operations of 26IB have suffered setbacks with the recent armed encounters against the government forces and the successful implementations of Community Support Program (CSP) have caused members to surrender.

In an interview with one of the surrenderees (@ Jim), they (NPAs) were confused and anxious for their lives because of the military offensives and more of their cohorts were either killed or wounded during clashes with the army

“We are hopeful that more of them (NPAs) will realize futility of their distorted ideology… 26IB is committed to prevent the NPA terrorists’ criminal activities against our people and the communities”, - LtCol Rommel Pagayon, Commanding Officer, 26IB said

On the other hand, COL ANDRES CENTINO, Army’s 401ST Brigade Commander, lauded the efforts of 26IB. He further called on the remaining members of the NPA to heed the call of the government. “Options are open to them to live normal lives. Be part of a peaceful community. Be among us..”,   he added
