25IB of 10ID embraces 2 NPA minors and 30 others in Monkayo

MONKAYO, COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE–A mass surrender without firearms of sixteen (16) members of Solid Mass Organization in Purok 4, Purok 5 and Purok 7 allof Brgy Rizal, Monkayo, Compostela Valley Province; two (2) Squad Leaders, one (1)medic and one (1) member of PBC 8, SRC 1, SMRC from Pruok 4, Brgy Rizal andPurok 7, Salvacion, both Monkayo, CVP; one (1) squad leader, GF15; and one (1) squad supply officer of SDG, SEC 3, SRC 4, SMRC from Sta Emelia, Veruela, Agusan Del Sur to 25th Infantry (Fireball) Battalion on 20, 21, 22, 23 January 2018 respectively.

 

The two (2) identified minors regular NPA members surrendered were Ayan Talle Vitoy@Ryan, 17 years old, squad supply officer of SDG, SEC3, a resident of Brgy Sta Emelia, Veruela, ADS; and Rechiel Ann Sumatin Matinood @Kim, 17 years old,Medic, PBC 8, a resident of Purok 7, Salvacion, Monkayo, CVP.

 

Their surrender was facilitated in cooperation with local leaders especially the LGU, Brgy Chairman and Purok leaders. They voluntarily surrender due to their experienced hardships, homesick, fear of death and most of all the realization of the futility of their cause in the organization. Further, they felt the pressure of our relentless combat operations conducted by 10ID forces and social pressure from the contagious Community Support Program (CSP) deployments and the untiring support of the local populace, civil society organizations, local government units/agencies and other stakeholders in the area of operations (AO).

 

Lt. Col. Oscar B Balignasay Jr Commanding Officer of 25IB said, "25IB under 10ID, together with all peace-loving and law-abiding Comvaleños condemn in the strongest words possible the cowardly and dastardly act perpetrated by the CPP-NPA terrorists."

 

"The answer for the call to surrender by the President of this Republic for the NPAs has already gaining grounds with the untiring efforts of the all stakeholders for peace in the nation," Balignasay added.

 

10ID encourage all people in the area to spread the words of surrender for peace to the NPA brothers and sisters, their families and love ones. Our forces will continue to pursue Peace and Development efforts in the area of responsibility (AOR) through Focus Military Operations, Community Support Program, information gathering efforts and collaboration with all stakeholders in 10ID AOR.
