AnakPawis Chairwoman surrenders to 10ID

Camp General Manuel T Yan, Sr., Mawab, Compostela Valley Province (CVP) -- On January 27, 2018, 1:00 p.m., a certain Gemma Burgos QUIROGA @MEA, Chairwoman of ANAK PAWIS Mati City Chapter surrendered to 28IB of 10ID under Lieutenant Colonel Ramon P Zagala at Brgy Dawan, Mati City through the effort of a Brgy Kagawad of Brgy Calapagan, Lupon, Davao Oriental (DOR).

 

Gemma is 35 years old, married, visayan, High School Graduate, Roman Catholic and a resident of Brgy Calapagan, Lupon DOR. She surrender medical paraphernalia and subversive documents to 28IB.

 

After the initial interview, Gemma revealed that before she was designated in her present position as chairwoman of ANAK PAWIS in Mati Chapter, she was a Squad Medic of SECOM 18, SRC2, SMRC of CPP-NPA terrorist (CNT) group in 2012. Gemma voluntarily joined the armed group due to her personal grudges to her family as well as her neighbors but it just get worsen on the process. She decided to surrender in order to live a peaceful and normal life together with her family.

 

The Chairwoman of AnakPawis who surrendered was brought to Lupon Police Station to officially record her surrender in the police blotter and was later brought to Lupon health Center to undergo medical examination. She is presently undergoing further interview/custodial debriefing at Headquarters of 28IB.

 

Major General Noel S Clement, 10ID Commander said, "With our forces advance to neutralize CPP-NPA terrorists , our campaign for peace prevails specially that a top leader of AnakPawis and also occupy a significant position in CNT, surrendered. With this, we continue to accept surrenderees and remain steadfast in protecting the people from enemy's deception and atrocities."

 

"10ID, together with the local government units and all stakeholders, will continue securing the communities against terrorist threat in the countryside to expand our gains and allow unhampered delivery of basic services by concern government agencies to the people in our area of responsibility," MGen Clement added.
