NPA killed helpless Lumad leader in Surigao del Norte

 

 

Sta. Cruz, Placer- A lumad leader was killed by NPA terrrorists at Sitio Palo 10, Brgy Camp Edward, Alegria, Surigao del Norte at 2:30 pm today, February 9, 2018.

 

The victim was identified as Dakula Guillermo Tiambong, 58 years old, a farmer and currently held the position as the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) of the Mamanwa Tribe in Alegria, Surigao del Norte was shot to death in front of his family while attending his farm at the mountains of Brgy Camp Edward, Alegria, Surigao del Norte.

 

According the victim's daughter, Girlie, that his father received death threats from the NPAs of being an active advocate on peace and development. "Walay sala ang akong amahan nganong Ila man kining gipatay? Giyatakan sa mga NPA ang katungod namong mga tribu nga magpuyong malinawon." Girlie said in local dialect.

 

"We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Dakula Guillermo Tiambong whose daughter is an active youth leader." Lieutenant Colonel Allen Raymund Tomas, Commanding Officer of 30IB said.

 

Datu Tiambong is the voice of the Mamanwa tribe during the 3-days IP Summit in Davao where President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met them last January 30, 31 and February 1, 2018.

 

"We condemn the terrorist CPP-NPA for the unlawful act of murder to helpless IPs. This is again a clear violation of the Human Rights. With their crime committed, full force of the law will be utilized to bring justice to the victim." BGEN FRANCO NEMESIO M GACAL AFP,  Brigade Commander said.
