Zamboanga City Barangay Officials give up loose firearms

February 21, 2018

Headquarters Philippine Marine Corps, Taguig City – two councilors from Brgy Cabaluay, Zamboanga City turned over eight (8) pieces of M1 Garand rifles to 111th Marine Company stationed at Zamboanga Fish Port Complex, Brgy Sangali, Zamboanga City yesterday February 20, 2018 at 6:15 o’clock in the evening.

The firearms were received by 1LT JASON G JIMENEZ PN(M), the Acting Commanding Officer of the 111th Marine Company and will subsequently turned over to Western Mindanao Command.

Five days ago, 3 loose firearms were also surrendered to Marine Battalion Landing Team 1 in Sulu by the Siasi District Hospital.

The deed of these Councilors from Brgy Cabaluay and the support of other officials in Zamboanga City and Sulu manifest the result of the efforts of the Marine units in implementing peace and order through collaboration with the Local Government Units in their area of responsibility.  This demonstrates that the Marines are effective not only in combat, but also in winning lasting peace without firing a single shot.
