MAGPET, Cotabato- Six soldiers of the 19th Infantry Battalion were wounded in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion staged by suspected New People’s Army terrorists in Barangay Doles here on Friday, June 21.

Lt. Angelique Taban, Civil Military Operations Officer of 19th Infantry Battalion said the soldiers were aboard their truck on their way back to their headquarters after providing security coverage and participating in a Medical and Dental Civic Action Program (MEDCAP) of the Cotabato Provincial Government at Barangay Binay when subjected to two (2) simultaneous explosions which injured six soldiers.

All six were already brought to Madonna General Hospital in nearby Kidapawan City for treatment.

“Two of the wounded soldiers will be airlifted to Camp Panacan Station Hospital in Davao City for further treatment and management. According to the physician all of them are now out of danger”, Lt. Taban added.

“We condemn this attack of the communist New People’s Army terrorists (CNTs). This act is a clear manifestation of the NPA as criminal organization for attacking the government troops who are only helping the local government in rendering medical assistance to the people in remote areas of Cotabato province”, Lt. Col. Ehrlich Noel Paraso, Acting Commanding Officer of 19th Infantry Battalion said.
