NSFA, Panacan, Davao City - Cpl Johannes Parreno a soldier from 28th Infantry Battalion who was abducted by members of the NPA terrorist escaped from his abductors on August 17, 2018 at about 11:00 o' clock PM at Brgy Lambog, Manay, Davao Oriental.
It can be recalled that Cpl Parreño together with CAA Dindo Sagayno were abducted while on their way back to their Headquarters in Mati City after attending a school supplies giving in Taragona, Davao Oriental when the NPA terrorist conducted a hasty roadblockade last June 10, 2018, at Crossing Pising, Brgy Taguibo, Mati City, Davao Oriental.
In a report made by Lt. Col Jacob Thadeus Obligado, the Battalion Commander of 67th Infantry Battalion, the escape came while his troops were pursuing the abductors who are the remnants of Secom 15 and PBC 8 after they were reported by some members of the community that the NPA terrorist were seen in Manay, Davao Oriental.
The report further stated that Cpl Parreño after his escaped, sought refuge to the Brgy officials of Brgy Lambog, Manay, DOR who eventualy turned him over to Ltc. Obligado at 67IB Tactical Command Post in Manay, DOR.
On July 6, 2018 operating units of 701st Bde encountered the abductors at Langgawisan1, Brgy Ompao Tarragona, DOR which provided the opportunity for CAA Sagayno to escape and eventually rescued by his Company Commander and fellow CAA.
Ltc Obligado credited the succesful escape and eventual rescue of the abducted troops to the support of the commuities.
"With the support of the local government officials and the people of Davao Oriental we have been tracking the abductors which became the basis of the sustain, continuous and relentless Focused Military Operations by 701st bde units, (67IB and 28IB ) to rescue our troops which eventually paid off". Ltc Obligado said.
"This is a seldom fete wherein NPA captives were able to escape from their captors without any negotiations. This shows the effectiveness of our military operations backed up by community support." Ltc Obligado concluded
