“Insurgency-Free” Pangasinan Underway

September 13, 2018

FORT MAGSAYSAY, NUEVA ECIJA – Officers of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army and the provincial government officials of Pangasinan convened at the Provincial Capitol in Lingayen today at 3:00 p.m., for the evaluation of the province as Insurgency-Free.

Last June 13, 2018, a Joint Recommendation between the 702nd Infantry Brigade, 7ID, PA and the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office was signed, endorsing Pangasinan to be declared as Insurgency Free.

A requirement prior to the declaration of Pangasinan as Insurgency Free is a pronouncement of the Area Clearing Evaluation Board (ACEB) that the province is Cleared of local terrorist groups (LTGs) and the Communist NPA terrorists (CNTs).

Main agenda of the ACEB meeting today is to evaluate the area clearing conducted by the Area Clearing Evaluation Team (ACET) based on given parameters that qualifies an area to be Insurgency Free.

Leading the 7ID group during the meeting is Brigadier General Lenard T. Agustin, the Assistant Division Commander of 7ID and the current ACEB Chair, while representing the province of Pangasinan is Governor Amado I. Espino III.

It is hoped that before the year ends, Pangsinan will finally be declared as Insurgency Free.

Major General Felimon T. Santos, Jr., Commander of 7ID, assures the people of Pangasinan that 7ID will still give its support to the development programs of the province and will always lend a hand whenever help is needed despite of it being declared as Insurgency Free.
