FORT MAGSAYSAY, NUEVA ECIJA – A platoon of the 84th Infantry Battalion discovered an arms cache at Barangay Minuli, Carrangla, Nueva Ecija on December 5, 2018 at around 5:15 in the afternoon.
Acting on information provided by civilians residing in the vicinity, elements of the 84IB led by Lieutenant Colonel George M Bergonia, Commander of the Battalion, successfully located the arms cache.
Recovered from the arms cache were the following: seven M16 rifles, one Icom radio, four short M16 magazines, one M14 magazine, 20 rounds M14 ammunition, 1,100 rounds of M16 ammunition, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), five blasting caps, one detonating cord, one binoculars, 13 cellular phones (assorted brands), four power banks, five chargers, three extension chargers, two batteries, 11 sim cards and 11 memory adaptors.
All recovered materiel have been turned over to the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Major General Felimon T. Santos, Jr., commander of the 7ID, thanks the people of Brgy. Minuli for cooperating and trusting the government forces. He further encourages the people to be vigilant and continue to report unusual and suspicious activities that might endanger the peace and safety of their community; saying that the success of the Philippine Military in achieving peace relies largely on the trust and support of the people.
