CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City-- The Armed Forces of the Philippines signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Smart Communications and Globe Telecom in support to an online project for military pensioners.
The Online Service Project launched by the AFP Pension and Gratuity Management Center will give pensioners and their beneficiaries online access to the status of their benefit claims.
Account holders can also update their status, schedule appointments, and receive reliable information about new pension policies and announcements.
The service eliminates the burden of traveling to Metro Manila and other satellite PGMC offices, which was the common problem of pensioners required to annually update their status.
The MOA, done as part of Globe and Smart's social responsibility programs, gives users access to their accounts via their mobile phones. They will also provide a client-initiated feedback and reporting system and advisory dissemination capability.
The agreement will take effect when signed by Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana.
"Smart and Globe has already aided us several times in the past. It is with deep gratitude that I thank Globe Telecom and Smart Communications for being a consistent partner of the AFP," AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Salvador Melchor Mison said in the signing ceremony Thursday, December 6 at the General Headquarters here.
"To our retirees, our pensioners, be assured that the AFP will always be committed to provide better and convenient service for our future growth and development," Lt. Gen. Mison added.
