Tago, Surigao del Sur – the 36th Infantry (Valor) Battalion renewed its commitment to strictly adhere and uphold Human Rights when it celebrated the culmination of the Human Rights National Consciousness Week “National Human Rights Consciousness Week” (NHRCR) with this year’s theme “Protecting Human Lives, Uplifting Human Dignity and Advancing People’s Progress” held at 36IB Headquarters Sitio Upper Mambago, Brgy Dayoan, Tago, Surigao del Sur this morning, Monday, December 10, 2018.
Lt Col Xerxes A Trinidad PA, Commanding Officer of 36IB led his troops in celebrating Human Rights National Consciousness Week as part of maintaining the unit’s high consciousness and respect to the Human Rights in line with its Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
To start the celebration, the Valor Troopers conducted a Flag Raising Ceremony in taking an oath of “Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Pamahalaan” to renew its commitment in the strict adherence to Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law. At 2 o’clock in the afternoon, a lecture on Human Rights was conducted with Hon Sildio L Pilongo, City Councilor of Tandag City, Surigao del Sur to reinforce awareness to troops in the performance of their mandate.
The celebration is a significant reminder to every personnel in order to maintain high standard of conduct and professionalism in implementing its campaign against CPP-NPA Terrorist and its allied left leaning organizations. In his statement, Lt Col Trinidad PA, said “In line with the Army Transformation Roadmap, every troops as professional soldiers shall be guided, committed and are expected in integrating the respect to human rights at the center of any operations while performing their mandate in serving the people and securing the land”.
“The 36IB will not tolerate any human rights violations of its personnel and we shall welcome our stakeholders to help us maintain this commitment. Saying that, we are calling all stakeholders to be involved in the pursuit of peace and development and support community based efforts to address issues and concerns in the conflict affected areas and geographically isolated and disadvantageous areas.
We always reiterate on our advocacy, that peace is not only the military’s concern alone but it is shared by everyone”, Lt Col Trinidad added. As of this date, the 36IB has not committed any Human Rights violation.
