Touching Lives, helping educate Lumad Children in Davao del Norte

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) through the Civil Relations Service together with the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Manila launched the Library for Peace on July 24, Thursday, at the Palma Gil Integrated School in Talaingod, Davao Del Norte.

 

The Library for Peace aims to help educate the Lumad students as one of the peace initiatives of the government in partnership with non-government organizations.

 

Likewise, it will help promote the role of libraries to advance peace internationally. Different books were distributed to the 187 elementary and 72 high school students at the opening.

 

According to Major General Bienvenido R Datuin Jr, Commander, Civil Relation Service, AFP, this project is vital Lumad Children as they continue their education. “Congratulations Junior Chamber International-Manila for touching the lives of our Lumad Children through your Library for Peace project and doing the act in the remotest areas in the country added more significance. Mabuhay Kayo!” said Datuin.

 

JCI Manila believes that it is through reaching out to others that you learn more about yourself. JCI Manila is a premiere leadership development organization. It is the organization where young men join to become better leaders.
