Message of Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito G. Galvez Jr on the celebration of National Heroes' Day

This day is a celebration for all of those who unconditionally work for peace throughout the country. These selfless people are going beyond the call duty and risking their lives so that the seeds of peace are planted in our communities.
As we commemorate those who fought for our nation's freedom and made the ultimate sacrifice - Rizal, Bonifacio, Aguinaldo, Gen Antonio Luna, Lapu-Lapu and our other Muslim heroes - let us work hand in hand to ensure the success of the Bangsamoro Peace Process, particularly the Normalization Track of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro.
As the decommissioning process of former Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants formally starts today, let us remember that these brave men, like our forefathers, also engaged in armed struggle so that their people will be liberated from the shackles of poverty, injustice and inequality. They, too, are heroes in their own right.
All Filipinos are capable of becoming heroes. The blood of our forebears course through our veins. May all of us serve as the embodiment of everything they have valiantly fought for so that justice, peace, love, understanding and unity will reign across our country and bring us together as one people - under one flag, and one God.
Mabuhay ang ating mga magigiting na bayani!
