81IB joins PDRRMC meeting

Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – The 81st Infantry (SPARTAN) Battalion participated in the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Meeting at the Governor’s Office, Provincial Capitol, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur on August 19, 2019.


Governor Ryan Luis V Singson of Ilocos Sur presided over the said meeting.


Different local government agencies in the Province of Ilocos Sur were present, which included the following: Provincial Development Risk Reduction Management Office, Provincial Health Office, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Bureau of Fire and Protection, Department of Education, Provincial Environment & Natural Resources Office, Department of Interior Local Government, Provincial Veterinarian, Provincial Engineer's Office, Philippine Coast Guard,  the Government Security Office and the Philippine Army.


The 81IB was led by Major Sagersanti C. Estrada, Battalion Executive Officer of the unit.


During the meeting, the abovementioned offices presented their 3-minute preparedness plans and programs for the rainy seasons.

As for the 81IB, Major Estrada presented the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Plan of the unit. 


“All concerned offices must be always ready and be on alert in any situation,” said Governor Singson.       


Major General Lenard T. Agustin, Commander of 7th Infantry Division, said, “With most of the provinces under 7ID’s area of responsibility frequently lashed by strong storms and other natural calamities, we have put extra effort in enhancing the skills and capabilities of our troops through various trainings. I know that they will be able to provide rescue and relief operations properly, should the need arise."


Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Rodrigo A. Mariñas Jr., Commanding Officer of 81IB, said, “Your Army, particularly the 81IB, not only works hard to maintain peace and order in the Province of Ilocos Sur, we also do our best to protect and serve the people in times of natural calamities.”
