Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – The 84th Infantry (VICTORIOUS) Battalion conducted a Medical Mission at Barangay Minuli, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija on September 8, 2019.
The Medical Mission was made more successful through 84IB’s partnership with the LGU of Carranglan; the Social Action Commission, Diocese of San Jose, Nueva Ecija; and, the Magenta Wellness Center.
Mayor Mary B. Abad of Carranglan and Rev. Fr. Paul Silva, along with Atty. Yvonne Yamashita of the Magenta Wellness Center, were among the participants who helped the 84IB assist the people who availed of the medical services and other services provided during the activity, such as free haircut and feeding.
Free eyeglasses for adults and toys for children were also given during the event. To sum, 200 people benefitted from the free medical check-up, 77 from the dental check-up, 74 were given haircuts, 450 received free eye-glasses, 175 children received toys, while a total of 699 adults and children were fed.
Major General Lenard T. Agustin, Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army, said that such activities are regularly conducted by 7ID units, as the delivery of the government’s basic social services form part of community security.
Further, Major General Agustin emphasized that the enhancement of the delivery basic social services is contained within Executive Order 70 or the ‘Whole-of-Nation approach” which outlines actions to be taken to put an end to the local communists’ armed conflict, as local terrorists often take advantage of the sufferings of the people and exploit their situation.
