81IB, STA. CRUZ, ILOCOS SUR – The Army’s 81st Infantry (SPARTAN) Battalion headed by Lt. Col Rodrigo A Mariñas JR INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) headed by Mr Emanuel H Haggad spearheaded the Culmination Program and Mass Awarding of Wages of Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Displaced/Disadvantaged (TUPAD) Workers. The activity benifited a total of three hundred (300) residents coming from selected barangays in the 2nd district of Ilocos Sur and the program was held at the Municipal Gymnasium of Salcedo and Farmers Hall of Candon City, all of Ilocos Sur, yesterday September 17, 2019.
It can be recalled that the launching of the 300 TUPAD Workers was made last September 4, 2019, wherein the personnel of DOLE, together with the SPARTAN troopers, conducted an orientation to the selected recipients in relation to the ten-day cleaning activity.
Around 9:00 am yesterday, DOLE Ilocos Sur and 81st IB personnel conducted simultaneous culmination of the TUPAD program and Mass Awarding of Wages in the Municipal Gymnasium of Salcedo, Ilocos Sur to 110 beneficiaries from Barangay Legaspi Galimuyod; Barangay Balidbid, San Tiburcio and Baluarte, all of Salcedo and was graced by Salcedo Mayor Hon Leopoldo Geronilla. On the other hand, a total of 190 beneficiaries from Barangay Bugbuga and San Antonio all of Sta Cruz; Barangay Suagayan, Buliclic and Conconig East all of Sta Lucia; and Barangay Tablac and Bugnay all of Candon City, received their respective wages and the event was attended by Sangguniang Bayan Member Godofredo Abrero, Chairman of the City Peace and Order Council of Candon City held at the Farmers Hall of the said city. Each TUPAD beneficiary received the amount of PhP3,400 for their ten (10) days of work in their respective barangays.
“Lubos po kaming nagpapasalamat sa mga kasundaluhan ng 81IB at sa DOLE dahil sa oportunidad na makasali sa ganitong programa ng ating gobyerno”. Said Mrs Elsa Gironella, one of the TUPAD Workers.
Further, SB Chairman Abrera said, “I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to the Army Troopers of 81st Infantry Battalion for their efforts in helping the people through the DOLE”.
“It is not only the recipients that benefited from this program, but also our community”. Hon Geronilla likewise said.
Meanwhile, LTC MARIÑAS JR PA said, “Your Army will continue to collaborate with different agencies to deliver different programs of the government to the people, especially those who are in need.”
Major General Lenard T Agustin AFP, Commander of 7th Infantry Division, stated that, “Rest assured that your Army will continue in helping the people as much as we can”.
