3Mech Battalion intensifies CoViD-19 awareness

March 27, 2020

Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija – Intending to spread awareness in communities about the Enhanced Community Quarantine, the Army's 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion guested in a radio program called “We are One against Covid-19” with 'Ate' Belle and Joy of the Bayanihan sa Northern Luzon at DZTC Radio Station on March 19, 2020.

Interviewed during the program were Captain Marvin P. Aquino, Operations Officer, and 2nd Lieutenant Ivy Kate G. Gapay, Civil Military Operations Officer, both of the 3rd Mech Bn.

The Enhanced Community Quarantine is a precautionary measure that is implemented by the Government throughout the entire Luzon to prevent the widespread transmission of the COVID-19.  It limits human activities and encourages people to stay at home and avoid unnecessary exposure to potential carriers. Discussed during the interview was the need to strictly implement the quarantine.

The commander of the 7th Infantry "Kaugnay" Division, Major General Lenard T. Agustin, commended the efforts of the unit for initiating the information drive. “Time is of the essence as the only way to fight COVID-19 is to educate the people on how to protect their selves and their families as the government enforces the lockdown and community quarantine. If they know the nature of the virus and how to prevent its spread, it will be easier for us to protect them and help contain the spread of COVID-19”, Major General Agustin explained.

Community cooperation plays a vital role in the fight against a pandemic crisis.

“Ang buong kasundaluhan, kapulisan at lahat ng health authorities ay kaisa po ninyo laban sa pagsugpo sa Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Tayong lahat ay may kapangyarihang makapagligtas ng buhay sa pamamagitan ng pananatili natin sa kanya-kanyang tahanan,” said Lieutenant Colonel Norberto P. Aromin Jr, Commanding Officer of the 3rd Mech Bn.

He added that in support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ efforts, the 3rd Mech Bn will provide the necessary assistance to frontline health workers. At the same time, the unit will continue to assist the local government and other partner agencies, with a primordial focus on keeping the peace and order in place and protecting the lives of the people.
